I would like to remind you kindly of the first ever ASEAN-EU Business Summit that will take place next week on Thursday 5 May 2011 in Jakarta, in the margins of the annual ASEAN-EU Economic Ministers Consultation and the ASEAN Summit.

Hosted by the Indonesia Chair of ASEAN and the European Commission, the ASEAN-EU Business Summit will be opened by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in presence of our Belgian EU Commissioner for Trade, Karel De Gucht.
At the Summit, the participating companies will discuss the opportunities and concerns in five main areas:
1. Infrastructure (including transport, logistics and energy)
2. Agriculture & Food
3. Healthcare (including pharmaceuticals)
4. Automotive
5. Services (including telecoms and finance)
Participating companies will directly present and discuss their conclusions with the ten ASEAN Trade and Economic Ministers and the EU Commissioner Karel De Gucht. The conclusions of the Business Summit will be presented to the annual ASEAN-EU Economic Ministers Consultation which will take place the following day, enabling business leaders to directly impact on EU and ASEAN governments' decisions.

ENQUETE - Masterproef enquete - Culturele identiteit
Als afronding van mijn masteropleiding Communicatie Wetenschappen aan de Universiteit Antwerpen voer ik, voor mijn masterproef, een onderzoek over het behoud van de culturele identiteit van Vlamingen in het buitenland.
Tegenwoordig zien we steeds meer mensen en families naar het buitenland trekken omwille van hun baan, hun liefde voor het land, of voor hun partner. Naast het belang van zich aan te passen in een andere omgeving, is het voor velen ook belangrijk om hun Vlaamse roots te onderhouden, en de waarden en normen en tradities van hun thuisland in stand te houden. Verschillende factoren kunnen daartoe bijdragen zoals bv. het volgen van de dagelijkse actualiteit in Belgie via kranten, tijdschriften, TV (TV-Vlaanderen) of Radio (Radio Vlaanderen Internationaal), deelname aan Vlaamse/Belgische Clubs of de aankoop van Belgische producten.
Ik wil een onderzoek doen naar het gebruik van Belgische producten, vooral dan voeding, door Vlamingen in het buitenland en in hoeverre dit consumptiegedrag samenhangt met het behoud van een culturele identiteit.
