NEWS - Thousands compete for UI seats - testcenters in Brussels and various places in Indonesia

Almost 37,000 people took the University of Indonesia (UI)’s Simak entrance test in cities as far away as Europe on Sunday in hopes of attending one of the nation's best colleges.

“Simak UI 2011 is an entrance test for every program at UI for the vocational, regular undergraduate, [unsubsidized] parallel undergraduate, international-class undergraduate, professional, specialist and doctorate programs,” UI spokesman Vishnu Juwono said in Depok, West Java, on Saturday. The test will be administered on Sunday in Brussels, Belgium, and in 10 Indonesian cities, including Depok and Jakarta.
Medicine, management and law topped the list of most popular programs for potential undergraduates, while information technology was most popular for Master’s degree applicants, Vishnu said, as quoted by kompas.com.
UI also selects students using the SNMPTN joint entrance test for state universities and the UMB selection test, among other exams.
