The
Belgium team finished the World Cup on the 10th position (out of 25
countries represented) after a series of 8 matches, despite very limited
strength (6 players) and 3 injured guys at the end !!!
Even more
important, Belgium beat the German Plus 3-1 (WC winner 2010) at the end
of the day after defeating the rough Danes and starting the game on
one's last legs.
Finally, I should also mention that the
organizer has described our team as the most talented team of the
tournament. He could only regret that we were missing few calves to
rotate on the pitch.

EVENTS - FOOTBALL - Germany Plus vs BLIC Red Devils 4 - 4
Contrary to the German Plus host team - that regularly plays together - the BLIC Red Devils were assembled for the occasion. Because of an initial lack of players, the Belgian team furthermore had to borrow 2 German replacements.
Any bad omen was soon contradicted by a fast lead within the first 7 minutes of the game : Germany 0 - Belgium 1. Whilst the Belgian team was the better of their opponents, both in the personal scrimmages as in field control, the game at first unfortunately appeared to turn to the favor of the Mannschaft. From the 1 - 1 equalizer up to a 3 - 1 lead.
A pressuring Belgian rally in the second halve however ended in a seaming draw score of 3 - 3, and this within a time span of 8 minutes. Then the German team succeeded in taking the lead that appeared to go for a final 4 -3 in our disadvantage. But once again, the Belgian perseverance paid of and a dry conversion of a rightful and non contested penalty - in the wake of the game and just when it started to darken - did result in the overall end score of Germany 4- Belgium 4.
A friendly match - in the nice setting of the German International School in BSD - contested in a spirit of comrade with a worthy opponent showed that the sky indeed could be the limit for this Belgian team.

EVENTS - BLIC - Blic meeting on October 7, 2011 (Jakarta-Indonesia)
Another meeting of the BLIC-group in Jakarta-Indonesia last night. As usual the casual talk and some new faces. Also as usual, about 35 people there. Next to his Excellency Mister Christiaan TANGHE, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to the Republic of Indonesia, we were also delighted to welcome Geert VAN PRAET of the Balinese YAYASAN CIMD (here on the right - on the left is our dearest friend and regular attendee Baudouin COOMANS). You can find some pics in the photographs section of the blog. (see more pictures)

EVENTS - Belgian National Day July 22nd, 2011
On Friday July 22nd, 2011 - and not on Thursday July 21st as it should have been to be "following the rules of the book and official etiquette" - the Belgian community in Jakarta (and wide surroundings) gathered for a small party, celebrating the Belgian National Day.
Ophelie and Arnaud Lion were our considerate hosts and kindly shared their home and hospitality with the community.
After a short speech by Arnaud Lion - counselor at the Belgian Embassy (left on the picture) - Ambassador Tanghe (right on the picture) and our all Randolph Wintgens (president of BLIC), everybody enjoyed some small fingerfood, a big "Belgian tricolore" cake (next to Belgian waffles and 'Dame Blanche' ice cream !), some drinks and snacks.
Some new faces showed and were welcomed : Aaron Russell (and family) and Jean-MarcVermeulen (and family) intend be amongst us for the next few years. We hope they have a pleasant and enriching stay in this beautiful country. The atmosphere was cordial, no-nonsense "Belgian style". Flemish, French, English and some Bahasa Indonesia filled the air, mixing into "Bahasa Jakarta". All are looking forward towards the November 15th "Kings' Day" celebration.
The pics you can find in the Photo Gallery.

EVENTS - A new page in the History Book of Belgium : Belgium 7 - Netherlands 2
Dear friends
I am pleased to report the superb victory of the BLIC football team on Saturday 11 June 2011.
The local Red Devils, managed by Stefan Vandenhende (picture hereunder - white shirt and red sports shorts), sent the Dutch NIC Team packing by the score of 7-2.
Congratulations to Stefan, Quentin, Nicolas, Bram, Peter, Othman, Xavier, Werner, Koenraad, Matthias and Nathan!
Coach Stefan was visibly pleased after the game. He thanked the around 40 noisy Belgian supporters in the crowd and told us that he was very impressed by the performance of his team, both on and off the field.
We also wish to thank Ambassador Tanghe (picture hereunder - white shirt and glasses) and Madame Tanghe for their presence and support.
And our appreciation goes to Dominique (picture hereunder - red shirt - Fitagency) and Valerie Vanderhaeghen for their great efforts in organizing this memorable event.
Best regards
Randolph (picture hereunder - black shirt and long pants) Visit the Photo Gallery now.
